We firmly believe that the path to success with your horses is finding what they like to do and then doing it with them. We have a ton of fun with our horses and will use this page to give you an idea of what they get to enjoy with us.
With Charlie feeling pretty good on his feet, training for Combined Driving Events is well under way. Charlie is blasting around the countryside several times a week, as navigator Scott tries to remember how to hang on and balance the marathon carriage.
In December 2010, we finally acquired a vehicle with a pole so that we can drive a "normal" side-by-side pair rather than our tandem pair. We took Isabelle and Charlie out for a test drive with harness borrowed from the Amish neighbors, and they did very well. We think Isabelle is a little displeased to have a "boy" right next to her--what an intrusion!--but she started to adjust.
We took Charlie and Isabelle to a friend's picnic to entertain visitors. He has a scale railroad that runs for one mile around his property. Isabelle wasn't too sure she was a railfan at first... those things are sorta scary! The horses were a big hit with visitors.
Dogs are an important part of our lives. Our dogs do everything with us, and we believe it's very good for the horses to learn to live with them.
We are usually out several times a week riding and driving. Only in the very coldest part of the winter do our horses get a break from work, and then not for long!
We consider everything we do with our horses to be part of their training, but some days we get a little more serious about work.

One of our favorite places to go is Fair Hill Natural Resources Area in Maryland. The 6000 acre property is aimed at the equestrian enthusiast. We love to enjoy the countryside with our animals, and it's a great place to meet other drivers and riders.
