My name is Matilda and I am the editor of the News page at Christmas Wish Farm. Since I have the keenest hearing, not to mention the best grammar, spelling, and punctuation, I will be the one keeping you up to date with happenings around the farm. If you have any complaints, please pass them to some other ass, as I'm sort of busy eating carrots and keeping my ear fuzz neatly groomed...

Well shiver my big ears, it appears we will have another donkey on the ground soon. Our newest donkle-dition, Muffin, seems to have a very small donkey inside her kicking to get out. Although we were told Muffin was bred last year, we didn't see too much evidence of it. Now we do!

Also, the dentist visited and said Muffin is about 3 years old and I (Matilda) am about 5. That's good, because I can never keep track of those darn birthdays, even my own!

Early on the morning of March 27, 2012, our schoolmaster mare Isabelle foaled a colt from our stallion Charlie. The colt is BIG and look a LOT like Charlie with a bald face. It appears he will have four white socks and a partially flaxen tail, just like dad.
First morning photo...

Our friend Pam's mini mare foaled a lovely little filly who is named GHS Windy Woohoo.
She's not very big compared to our new foal!
Nope, I'm just making a donkey funny. Our 'Nietzsche' (say neet-shuh) is an Arab stallion, not a German philosopher, poet, and composer. But he has been getting ground training and is now driving at CWF!
Please see our In Training page for information.
Our two stallions, Charlie and Nietzsche, were advertised in the Pennsylvania Equestrian "Stallion Guide" issue distributed as the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo program.
The boys got their pictures in the paper and you can see them online at Pennsylvania Equestrian.

Next year I think Muffin and I should be featured in the Donkey Edition, don't you?
Remember Poppy who lived with us last year as a foster sister? She's a Morgan/Saddlebred cross. Well she is getting big, approaching her second birthday, and started training under saddle before she comes back here for driving training later this year.
Here she is being ridden the first time:
I'm pretty happy that I'm what's called a very small donkey, and riding me isn't really an option :)
Our friend Paul decided it was simply unacceptable that new donkey Muffin and I would be stuck sharing living quarters with big, grumpy horses, so he decided to build us a custom donkey-sized run-in shed.
Paul's friend Sharon helped construct The Muffin Hut in his garage.
Mom went to visit and helped paint it. They added cool Donkey-rations to jazz it up and make clear to those horses just whose shed this is!
They then hauled it to our farm using a tilt-bed trailer he borrowed from work.
Now we have our own Donkey-tastic place to get out of the weather. Our thanks to our buddy Paul!
Mom finally gave into my pleas for a playmate with properly sized ears, and on January 1st my new Spotted Ass big sister came home.

Muffin came with a Christmas Bonus for our friend Pam who hosted me at summer camp last year. The little jack donkey was given to Pam at Fair Hill park, and they all had a party in the horse trailer.
Pam named him GHS Sterling, and after he had a couple extra attachments removed, he moved to York to live on Pam's farm. I am sure we will see him from time to time!
